Post on April 15th, 2008
Update April 2011
This class has been re-vamped, and includes the exact same materials from the class I teach at at eClasses.org.

This ASP.NET class will teach client-side Web developers with C# experience the fundamentals of Web application site implementation using Microsoft ASP.NET. The class focuses on using the Microsoft .NET platform to create an ASP.NET Web application that delivers dynamic content to a Web site.

Students will use the free web development tool Visual Studio 2010 Express to create their ASP.NET 4.0 web pages.

The class is only $25 and there are no other materials or software needed.

Topics Covered:

Week 1: Creating your first ASP.NET page
Week 2: Web Control Classes
Week 3: Visual Appearance and Standard Site Layout
Week 4: Maintaining state
Week 5: Reusability with OOP

To give you an idea of how each lesson looks, here is the first lesson (.pdf).

    Frank,
thanks, you made the class easy and fun. I am looking forward to the next class.

I found the beginner ASP.Net class to be a good mix of ASP.Net and C#. Although my HTML is a little rusty and I have programming but no CSS experience, I had no problems following the lessons. In addition, Frank was able to explain things in layman terms for any questions I raised.

I have no doubt Frank would go the extra ‘mild’ for a student to learn. However, I meant to type: ‘mile’.

    Pax,

Glad you enjoyed my classes, and I now see your assistant teaching at eClasses.org in the JavaScript classes?

      That’s great!

Frank is one of the best online instructors around. He goes the extra mild to help his students learn.

I have been (almost a year now) and will be taking more courses taught and hosted by Frank Stepanski as instructor.

  5. I would recommend Frank’s class to anyone who wants to make the migration from Classic ASP. I felt at ease with this gentle introduction course, which emphasised well some key underlying basic concepts of ASP.net. Frank was very responsible on the Class discussion board, and this gave the course some of the warmth you might expect from attending a real life in person course.

    • Thanks Tryfon,

Glad you liked the class and learned alot. I’ll see you in the Intermediate Class in the upcoming session.

I would highly recommend Frank’s introduction to ASP.NET for any beginner with one caution: some minimal experience with a programming language, preferably C#, though there is an adequate intro to enough C# (with web references) to get started.

The lessons advanced gradually enough for any beginner.

I enjoyed this introduction to ASP.NET and look forward to Frank’s more advanced lessons.

    • Hi Harry,

Glad I was able to help you with those questions you had about ASP to ASP.NET and PHP to ASP.NET conversions.

Hope you can take the Intermediate course later one.

A very good opportunity to explore asp.net and C#. I enjoyed the chance to create several different web sites and then play with them to try different effects. Having taught C, C++ and Java in the past, adapting to C# was fun and interesting. The variety of settings available in asp.net objects is extensive. I’m looking forward to the followup classes.

    Frank,

Please teach more classes at LVSOnline.com. I look forward to your next ASP.NET class.

    • I will try to teach more classes Robert.

I just finished creating a Beginner JavaScript class and soon I will be working on another ASP.NET class focusing on database development.

I wasnt sure what to expect from an online class since I never took one before. After the first lesson was posted and I was able to ask a few questions on the dicussion board about the class I felt it would be a good experience.

After 6 weeks I am kinda sad it is over. I learned so much and was great interacting with the other students as well. I am hooked now. :)

Frank gave us a very clear introduction to ASP.NET. Things I read in books that confused me were made clear by the teacher. I appreciated his openness to answer questions quickly and thoroughly.

This is the class I’ve been waiting for LVSOnline to have for a long time. Frank did an excellent job explaining the difficult topics to us. Thanks Frank!

Looking forward to the intermediate class!

This is an excellent course. Previously, LVSOnline didn’t have any asp.net courses so I tried several books and always got stuck.

This course was very helpful not only in the material taught but the instructor, Frank, was very informative when I had any questions and also quick to respond.

I highly recommend this course. I am looking forward to the Intermediate class.

    • Glad you enjoyed the class. I will try and find some time to work on the “Advanced ASP.NET” class soon. :)
